The West Country Hawks entered the national league two in 2013. And over the following seasons have improved and developed into a real force within the division, currently sitting second in the table and pushing for promotion.

The team and club is captained by our long serving player Faye West who recently graduated from Plymouth University with an Hons degree in Media Arts. Faye and the team are well supported by Faye’s mother Anne, who is always present on or off the bench volunteering as our tournament administrator.

This season has seen a change of coaching staff for the Super Series team. Our long serving coach and founder Chris Perkins, has stepped down as Head Coach and the rains have fallen to player/Head Coaches Adam Simmons and Assistant Coach Ian Farrant. Adam has been playing with the Hawks since their inaugural season and previously captained the club. Ian joined the Hawks a couple of seasons ago moving down from Kent., after playing for a number of teams including London and Canterbury. Both Adam and Ian bring a wealth of experience with them to their new positions.

The Hawks Super Series team have a number of young outstanding players hoping to make the Great Britain Elite squad and represent their country at a Paralympics. These include club captain Faye West, Ed Larkin and Andy Guy.

We have had to say good-bye to a number if players over the years, probably too many to mention. However, Abdul, a student at Plymouth University from Kuwait deserves a mention Abdul played for the Hawks for 3 seasons and coined many a phrase which are still used today on court by our players, Abdul now represents his country Kuwait, playing basketball at elite level.

The club and players are taking the league more seriously this season, we now run another training session on Saturdays in Exeter and the improvements in the teams’ game play can already be seen. The whole team is excited about the future and intend to improve over the coming seasons.
